Date & Location: March 27-29, 2022. Grand Hyatt Denver, 1750 Welton Street, Denver, CO 80202.
Description: A training event for SDA treasury and finance staff that provides career growth opportunities through workshops and seminars. Continuing education credit will be available. Our theme is,"Transformative Leadership: Thriving in a Changing World."
Seminar & Plenary Topics:
COVID-19: We will be following state and local guidelines regarding COVID-19 at this event. We will continue to monitor situations and communicate closer to the conference date on steps we are taking to improve your safety.
Who Should Attend: Financial officers of the SDA unions, conferences, health systems, universities, and high school academies of the North American Division.
Tammie Jo Shults: Captain Shults is a former Southwest Airlines pilot and the captain of the crippled Southwest 1380 flight, which made an emergency landing in Philadelphia after an unexpected engine failure and rapid depressurization. Through her fierce determination, Captain Shults demonstrates the building blocks necessary to lead and manage a crisis even under severe pressure. Through her insight, Captain Shults has motivated thousands of individuals to transform adversity into strength, and strength into the courage to take action.
Israel Del Toro: In 2005 while serving in the U.S. Air Force in Afghanistan, Senior Master Sgt. Israel Del Toro was following routine orders when his Humvee rolled over a buried pressure-plate mine and exploded. The blast severed most of his fingers and left him in a coma for nearly three months, with burns covering the majority of his body. He was given a 15% chance of survival, but Del Toro defied the odds. In 2010 he became the first 100-percent combat disabled Air Force technician to re-enlist, proving once again what one can achieve with steadfast tenacity and determination.
Jon Engstrom is a 22-year veteran with a major U.S. metropolitan police department where he serves as the technical lead for the agency’s Criminal Intelligence and Cyber-Crime Sections. Jon instructs internal department teams as well as outside organizations in the areas of Operational Security for Covert Operations, Countering Electronic Surveillance, Cyber-Crime Investigations, and Open-Source Intelligence. With a certification in ethical hacking, he focuses on incorporating an attacker’s perspective into investigations and operational security.
