Gospel and Teens

“Gospel” is the word Christians use to refer to the story of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, the good news of the salvation that is ours because of God’s gracious gift to us of His Son (Romans 1:16). “The gospel about Jesus Christ,” (Mark 1:1; Acts 8:35) is the gospel of our salvation (Ephesians 1:13), the gospel by which we are saved (1 Corinthians 15:2), the everlasting Gospel we are to tell to every nation, tribe, language and people of the world (Acts 20:24; Revelation 14:6) before the end of time (Mathew 24:14).

The gospel was preached before Abraham’s day (Galatians 3:8) and by the Old Testament prophets (Romans 1:2). It was preached by Jesus (Luke 20:1), by His disciples (Luke 9:6; Acts 8:25), and by the evangelists of the first century church (Acts 8:40; 16:10; 1 Corinthians 1:17).

“The gospel of Christ is from beginning to end the gospel of saving grace.” *

“The message of the gospel of His grace was to be given to the church in clear and distinct lines, that the world should no longer say that Seventh-day Adventists talk the law, the law, but do not teach or believe Christ.” **

“No grace, no gospel,” said James Moffatt in his book Grace in the New Testament. ***

“The substance and the essence of the true gospel are the doctrine of God’s grace. If you take away the grace of God from the gospel, you have extracted from it its very lifeblood, and there is nothing left worth preaching, worth believing, worth contending for. Grace is the soul and the music of the gospel; without it the gospel is silent.” ****

Five Reasons Why Teens Need the Gospel

  1. All of us have sinned and all of us are made right with God the same way – through Jesus. Romans 3:23.
  2. God's Kindness leads us to repentance. Romans 2:4.
  3. The gospel keeps us from being afraid of God. Luke 2:10.
  4. Good news makes us healthy! Proverbs 15:30.
  5. The gospel defines our mission and purpose in life. Isaiah 61:1 and Mark 16:15
