Youth Pastor

A youth pastor is someone who loves young people, understands their developmental process, has an interest in sharing the gospel with them in a dynamic and contemporary manner, and is committed to breaking down the barriers that keep young people separated from their families and from their church.

Young people tell us that it doesn’t really matter if their youth pastor is a woman or a man, is young or old, or can name the top five songs on their favorite radio station. Young people are quick to note if a pastor is really committed to them, has an incredible interest in their individual stories, and has an undying enthusiasm for life and for the way God will use them in the present.

A youth pastor’s ultimate role model is Jesus.

Five Identifying Features of Our Role Model
  1. He came to our planet in a way we could understand.
  2. He chose to live life with integrity and compassion.
  3. He loved people no matter where He found them.
  4. He was an active participant in the culture of His day.
  5. He used discipleship as the strategy to help people learn how to minister to others.
As long as there are young people who need direction, there will be men and women who will seek to follow Jesus and provide the kind of ministry to young people He so ably demonstrated.
