AdventSource

Tax-Exempt Information

To comply with state and local sales tax laws AdventSource will be collecting sales tax on all purchases. In order to accomplish this AdventSource has partnered with Avalara to calculate the appropriate taxes we are required by each jurisdiction to collect.

If you are a sales tax-exempt organization, you must complete and submit your organization's information on Avalara to verify that you are eligible to purchase as a sales tax-exempt organization. Please contact SalesTaxSupport@adventsource.org if you have not already received an email or letter with this information.

If you have any questions regarding the completion of the forms, please contact us by calling (402) 486-8812. We will be glad to assist you in any way to expedite the process.

Please complete this request before your next purchase or taxes will automatically be added to your future purchases from AdventSource and cannot be refunded. We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for supporting our ministry.

FAQ

Question: Why is there estimated sales tax on my order?
Answer: AdventSource is collecting sales tax to comply with state and local laws.

Question: My church/school is tax-exempt, but why do I see sales taxes on my completed order?
Answer: There are several possible explanations. First, if you billed your order to your church/school, then the church/school does not have a sales tax exemption form on file. Second, churches/schools are not sales tax exempt in every state – check your local tax code. And third, if you paid for the order with your credit card, you will need to have entered the organization's AdventSource account number in the "Organizations Account Number for Sale Tax Exemption" field. Contact your treasurer for the account number.

Question: When filling out a sales tax exemption certificate, what is the religious organization number Avalara asks for?
Answer: Please refer to your state’s Department of Revenue website to look this up. For most states, you would enter NA for “not applicable.”

Question: I submitted a sales tax exemption certificate, but why does it say the exemption is pending?
Answer: Any document uploaded through Avalara will be placed in a queue to be approved. If you need to place an order right away, please go back to the link provided and follow the steps to fill out the form online.

Question: How do I know if my organization has filled out a form to be tax-exempt?
Answer: The treasurer/admin can log in to the AdventSource church/school account, click on the person icon in the top right, and select "Tax Exemption." This will show which forms have been filled out that are in completed, pending, or expired status.

Question: I need to bill my church for an order I am placing. How do I know if my church has filled out a sales tax exemption form?
Answer: One option is to ask your treasurer to log in to their AdventSource church/school account, click on the person icon in the top right, and select "Tax Exemption." This will show your treasurer if they have a completed sales tax exemption form on file. Another option is to go to the payment screen for your order, then enter your organization's account information on the EC Account tab or your organization account number in the "Organization's Account Number for Sales Tax Exemption" field on the credit card tab. The total tax at the bottom will disappear if there is a valid sales tax exemption form on file.

Question: I am the treasurer and I previously filled out a sales tax exemption form. Why did I get a notice to fill out a new one?
Answer: Sales tax exemption forms expire after 12 months and need to be filled out annually.
