Description

RUNNERS. PASTORS. In Grandpa’s Shoes shares how the example and encouragement of one man, Eric Webster, influenced the life and calling of his granddaughter, Raewyn Orlich. Weaving their stories together, each chapter looks honestly at topics like health, human suffering, race, gender, and faith.

A Bible passage and reflection questions that can be used in intergenerational study groups are included at the end of each chapter. Previous small group participants, ages 13-96, describe the 13-week experience as “profoundly moving,” “inspirational,” and “extremely valuable.” One said, “I was able to form a friendship with a much younger person that has added great blessings to both of us long after the group ended.”

In an age that feels more divided than any of us remember, we need safe space for connection, whatever our ages. This tool will help you facilitate that connection.

REVIEWS

"Warning! This book may have you staying up later than you should. In a world that prioritizes segmentation of age groups and values rugged individualism, In Grandpa’s Shoes dares to pull people back together multi-generationally through engaging storytelling, clear instruction, and meaningful theology." —Iki Taimi, lead pastor of the La Sierra University Church

"In Grandpa’s Shoes is the rare book that I read in one sitting. I could not put it down. Pick it up and you’ll understand why." —Karl Haffffner, Ph.D., vice president for student experience, Loma Linda University

"Raewyn, a capable researcher, tackles a range of tough societal challenges and offers wise, gracious counsel on how to navigate these in our complex world. I highly recommend her book for intergenerational small groups who actually want to live out what she writes about!" —Kayle B. de Waal, Ph.D., director of disciple-making and prayer ministry, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Trans-European Division
